finally flying out of here. those 14 hours alone in the airport would’ve been very miserable if it weren’t for some of my favorite people.

it’s 8:45 and we’re starting to board. i’m literally shaking with exhaustion so i’m really looking forward to a  6 1/2 hour nap on the plane. ta ta for now new york

plz save me NAO

so i missed my 6:10 flight from JFK to long beach by 10 mins. they closed the gate and now i’m stuck here for the next 13 hours with a laptop at 96% life and DS that would last approx. 4 hours. this is going to be the longest night OF MY LIFE.

THANK GOD for free wifi;

once the battery dies i’m going to have to scout JFK for a possible outlet because the internet is my only hope for staying sane.

&i do realize my right eye looks funny but i’m too exhausted to care. 2.5 4 8 11 hours down and counting..

NY: day 8

today i had dessert for dinner. oh yes, you heard me.. DESSERT FOR DINNER

jo found this great little japanese tea room style coffee/dessert shop, Cha-An, down the east village a couple weeks back so we decided to have ourselves a sugar-splurge day.

since i’m feeling extremely lazy, just go read some reviews from yelp.com.

jo & i ended up ordering: green tea latte, matcha tea, green tea truffle, chocolate raspbetter soufflé, chocolate mochi, &sesame crème brûlée which all came to a total of $30 per person. mhm, that’s some expensive dessert. don’t judge us.

it was extremely cold today, but after our fatty binge taking a cab home was not an option. so we ended up walking several blocks back to the apartment while shivering our asses off, but it was better that way because we felt less bloated afterwards.

now its time to start packing because i leave for irvine tomorrow night. it’s been a great week, knowing i didn’t waste my spring break doing nothing in irvine (which is what i do every.single.year). i also enjoyed the fact that i didn’t act all touristy on this vacation, but really (tried) to live like a new yorker..maybe except for fooding like i had money coming out the yin-yang. but bottom line: new york is bomb.

edit: oh my gawd i’m so glad i’ll be able to post photos after i get back because i’m tired of seeing text.

wtf are caper berries

today can be summed up into 3 words:

shopping. cheese. wine

originally i planned to laze around the apartment because my legs are aching from walking so much the past couple days. but the weather was nice and the cash in my wallet was asking to be spent, so i packed up my stuff and left for soho.

one of the great things about living in the lower east side is how everything you’ll ever need is within walking distance. soho was around a 15 min walk westwards. along the way i passed by charming boutiques and several brand stores like paul frank. when i got to soho i was blown away by the sudden crowd of tourists, corporate men/women, superthin models, and  hipster locals. &everyone was so well dressed, even 70 year old ladies sported chic pea coats and pretty headbands.

the old buildings were incredibly beautiful, with most buildings dating all the way back to 1880’s. even commercial shops such as prada, forever 21, and zara adopted a more rustic feel to blend in to the overall atmosphere. but i think my favorite part of soho has got to be their famous cobblestone streets. you never see those around anymore, and i also really like the unevenness of the ground. hopping around making sure i don’t get my foot caught in a crack made me fee like a kid again. god, what i’d do to own a loft there.

dinner/late night adventures was held at a the west village’s local italian wine bar, Gottino. the place was tiny, the front of the bar was mainly dominated by a huge marble bar, long enough to fit about 15 people. i guess the weekend starts on thursday for new yorkers because it took us 45 min to get a seat.

both jo and i haven’t had dinner yet so we ordered the 3 cheese special. i forgot what the names of the cheeses were because they had long Italian names, but if i ever figure it out i’ll add it in. they were all very yummy when paired with fruit (in our case: blueberry and raisins) and lightly toasted bread. the wine was good too (forgot the name of that also), probably the smoothest wine i’ve ever tasted: it was sweet, had a very clean finish, and tasted almost like grape juice.

overall a good night, until i bit into a caper berry.. and also my left eye lid got irritated and puffed up…now it hurts to blink..
